Tower Scan
(Trayed Column)

The Tower Scan technique helps plant engineers pinpoint and diagnose mechanical integrity issues and performance anomalies within column internals. It also identifies process-related problems that can affect efficiency and safety.

  • Detects liquid carryover and damage to demister pads.
  • Checks for damaged, buckled, or displaced trays.
  • Identifies missing man-way panels or tray supports.
  • Diagnoses process issues such as flooding, severe entrainment/jet flooding, foaming, weeping/dumping, downcomer blockages, and fouling above active areas.
  • Measures tray capacity by analyzing froth heights and liquid levels in downcomers.
  • Monitors liquid levels on chimney/collector trays.
  • Locates the bottoms liquid level at the base of the column.

Grid Scan
(Packed Column)

The Grid Scan method is designed to diagnose mechanical integrity issues and performance anomalies in packed columns, ensuring smooth operations and optimal efficiency.

  • Check integrity of demister pad, liquid distributor.
  • Verifies proper placement of packed beds at the correct elevation.
  • Diagnoses maldistribution of vapor and liquid through the packed bed.
  • Identifies process or mechanical issues, such as liquid hold due to fouling or crushed/damaged packing.
  • Measures the relative density of the packed bed.
  • Assesses liquid levels on collector trays and at the bottom of the tower.

Pipe Scanning

The Pipe Scanning technique provides a reliable, non-invasive method to locate and measure deposits or sediment buildup inside pipelines. It is an efficient solution for ensuring the integrity of pipelines without disrupting operations.

  • Locates and measures the depth of deposits or sediment buildup.
  • Requires approximate density of the process material for accurate depth calculations.
  • Eliminates the need to remove insulation or lagging.
  • Applicable to pipes of any size.
  • Scanning at heights requires permanent platforms or scaffolding.
  • Uses an adjustable yoke assembly to ensure consistent readings at horizontal (3-9 o'clock) and vertical (6-12 o'clock) positions.
